Mooring Bollards
General Details
In the maritime contexts in which the term originates, a bollard is either a wooden or iron post found as a deck-fitting on a ship or boat, and used to secure ropes for towing, mooring and other purposes; or its counterpart, a short wooden, iron or stone post on a quayside to which craft can be moored.
Mooring bollards are seldom exactly cylindrical, but typically have a larger diameter near the top to discourage mooring warps (dock lines) from coming loose. Single bollards sometimes include a cross rod to allow the mooring to be bent into a figure eight.
Marine bollards are a simple and cost-effective way to fulfill mooring requirements and safely secure vessels alongside jetties, berths, wharves, and dolphins in ports and harbors. We provide bollards with a range of design profiles, sizes, and mooring line capacities to suit all mooring applications.
The shape of bollards has been refined with finite element techniques to optimize the geometry and anchor layout. Even at full working load, bollards remain highly stable and provide a safe and secure mooring operation.
Marine bollards are designed and shaped according to ship's berthing capacity, wharf structure to help ships moor to the dock. Bollards are mainly made of casting steel or casting iron. Its common specifications range from 50KN to 2000KN. We supply all types of bollards:
